Usually, Orthodontics and braces are thought of as something which can only be completed on adult teeth. But there are some cases where treating early treatment, or treatment during the baby teeth phase, can be useful. Generally, the aims of early treatment are to make the later, phase 2, treatment much easier. This, phase 1 treatment, is routinely quite quick and easy. It may only last a few weeks to a few months.
Conditions in which early treatment may be beneficial:
Crossbite of front teeth
Crossbite of back teeth
Impacted permanent tooth
A check with your orthodontics may be of benefit if you notice any of the following:
- Early or late loss of baby teeth
- Difficulty chewing or biting
- Mouth breathing
- Jaw joints that click or make sounds
- Speech difficulties
- Biting cheeks or the roof of the mouth.
