What to do in an mishap?

If you or your child experience an orthodontic emergency, the first step is to stay calm and contact our clinic as soon as possible. Our friendly team will listen to what’s happening, guide you through safe steps to reduce any discomfort, and let you know whether urgent care is required. In many cases, we can arrange an emergency appointment quickly to repair the problem and keep treatment progressing smoothly.

Prompt attention helps prevent delays, avoids unnecessary pain, and ensures your teeth continue moving as planned. By reaching out early, you’ll have clarity about options knowing your orthodontic care is supported and your smile is protected, even when the unexpected happens.

If a bracket breaks but is still attached to the wire, leave it in place and cover any sharp edges with orthodontic wax until you can see us.
If a wire is poking out, gently push it back into place with a clean cotton bud or cover it with wax to prevent irritation.
If a bracket fully detaches, keep it safe and bring it to your appointment. Call us promptly so we can reattach it without delaying treatment.
If a module (the small elastic band around a bracket) comes off, it is usually not urgent. Book an appointment soon so we can replace it and keep your treatment on track.
Contact us immediately to organise a replacement. For clear aligners, we may advise moving to the next aligner, going back to the previous one, or ordering a replacement to avoid losing progress.
